A Message from Music Player Magazine Interns and Staff
Written by: Marcie Camero, Editor

COVID-19 changed everything. How we work, how we socialize, how we learn and even how we love. The only constant force keeping us sane in the chaos is music. Artists have risen to be leaders through their art. Unable to tour, there are few ways for them to interact and connect with their fans. As a result, the message behind their music has become an intentional focus. As the industry looks at alternative revenue streams, it is quite evident that this pandemic may be the single most impactful event in the history of the music industry. We can only hope true talent can survive, learn, and grow.

We at Music Player Magazine and Music Noises, appreciate the many actions and sacrifices the music industry is taking to keep their fans and employees safe. Right now, the world is going through struggles and changes just as the industry is. If there is one thing music can do now, it is to open our minds and hearts to understanding the conditions we live in, how to overcome them, and how to thrive now and forever.

Though COVID-19 has posed difficult challenges and a new way of life, it has forced society to take a step back and re-evaluate the relationships and passions that bring true joy to life. The experience has taught us more about love, resiliency, strength, family, and safety.

We recognize the medical professionals and other essential workers who keep us safe and fed. In doing so, they risk themselves and their loved ones in the process. The hundreds of thousands of lives lost to this virus do not go unnoticed. Out of respect to them, we comply with sometimes annoying medical recommendations to “flatten the curve”. We learn to value our time at home and to stop and listen to the music, while the war wages on.

We Are Warriors – Avril Lavigne

We’ll pick our battles ’cause we know we’re gonna win the war (win the war)
We’re not rattled ’cause we shattered all of this before (this before)
Steadier than steel ’cause we’re ready with a shield and sword (shield and sword)
Back on the saddle ’cause we’ve gathered all our strength for more (strength for more)

And we won’t bow, we won’t break
No, we’re not afraid to do whatever it takes
We’ll never bow, we’ll never break

‘Cause we are warriors, we’ll fight for our lives
Like soldiers all through the night
And we won’t give up, we will survive, we are warriors
And we’re stronger, that’s why we’re alive
We will conquer, time after time
We’ll never falter, we will survive, we are warriors

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
We are warriors

Like Vikings, we’ll be fighting through the day and night (day and night, ah-oh)
We’ll be marching through the darkness ’til the morning lights (morning lights)
Even when it’s harder, like the armor, you will see us shine (see us shine)
No, we won’t stop and we won’t drop until the victory’s ours (oh)

No, we won’t bow, we won’t break
No, we’re not afraid to do whatever it takes
We’ll never bow, we’ll never break

‘Cause we are warriors, we’ll fight for our lives
Like soldiers all through the night
And we won’t give up, we will survive, we are warriors
And we’re stronger, that’s why we’re alive
We will conquer, time after time
We’ll never falter, we will survive, we are warriors (oh)

Oh, you can’t shoot us down
You can’t stop us now
We got a whole damn army
Oh, you can’t break us down
You can’t take us out
This’ll be behind us

We are warriors, we’ll fight for our lives
Like soldiers all through the night
And we won’t give up, we will survive, we are warriors
And we’re stronger, that’s why we’re alive (we are stronger)
We will conquer, time after time (we will conquer)
We’ll never falter, we will survive (never falter)
We are warriors (we are warriors)

Whoa, whoa, whoa
We are warriors
Whoa, whoa, whoa
We are warriors
